Hello friends and families,

Today we welcomed Kezia, Poppy, Finley, Rumi, Zahra, Lachlan, Henry, Banjo, Rania and Hudson. We started the morning in the yard where we threw around hula-hoops, sat on the hill reading books with Miss Bec, making mud cupcakes and riding around the bikes. Once all of our friends had arrived, we headed indoors where we sat on the mat and read a book that Poppy brought in for us to share. This was called “Bin Chicken”, telling the story about what ïbis birds like to do. We then sang bee bee bumble bee before washing our hands and sitting down for morning tea.

After morning tea, we sat on the mat and talked about the day we were going to have. Today is the start of “Nature week”, so we decided to have an outdoor day, having activity tables in the outdoor setting. Out on the veranda we had pine cone painting, where the children got to paint their own pine cone in the colours red, blue and white. This was also to help us celebrate Nature week. On another table we had playdough, creating stars, circles and worms with it. The children are really using their imagination to create different objects and animals. We then had another table which had pencils, stencils and paper. The children used their fine motor and hand-eye coordination skills to draw in the stencils, using different colours matching the object. For example a star in yellow, a love heart red. This was good to also see them use their cognitive and problem solving skills. The children were also free to explore the yard, some building towers with the building blocks and some making sandcastles in the sand pit. We then had a dance party on the tree house with our favourite song before it was time for lunch.

What a great way to start our nature week!

Love Miss Bec, Miss Aaliyah and Miss Tayla xx
