Hello families, welcome to Thursday in Babies 3.
This morning we welcomed Isla, Valencia, Matthew, Bella, Parker, Olivia, Daris and Dorijan with lots of cuddles as they settled into their learning environment. Today Shayaan joined us for another fun transition day.
This morning our friends were engaged over at the table where miss Mel had the animals set up. Valencia was holding the pig and making a piggy noise “oink, oink” Miss Mel asked her friends what sound a cow makes, Bella yelled in a big loud voice “Mooo!!!” Parker was making the horse gallop across the table, Daris was playing with the cow and joining in as we went through all the noises the different animals made.
Valencia, Dorijan, Olivia and Isla were busy in the kitchen. Dorijan was placing the pots and pans in the sink. Olivia was engaged in paly with the egg carton and placing the eggs on plates. Isla was pretending to feed herself with the Dollie’s spoon and Matthew has been enjoying playing with the cash register the last few days, he likes opening and closing the draw. He then decided to dress up in the orange vest and became a tradesman. Daris was walking around the room with the mobile phone chatting away and pressing all the buttons. Dorijan sat making his own music, taking turns of all our different musical instruments.
We cleaned up our room to the “clean up song” and sat on the mat with Miss Lauren as it was time for morning tea. We sung ‘Bee, bee bumble bee”. As we said or tried our very best to say our names, we stood up one at a time to wash our hands and sit down for morning tea, today we hadmagic breaky muffins.
Today Winston began his day over in Toddlers 1 and we welcomed Dorijan for another fun transition day! Dorijan is settling into his new learning environment so well and is already forming strong bonds with his new educators and friends.
To extend on our baby’s interest in the animals this morning we based our water play activity on washing the animals. We were all very excited as we watched Miss Lauren fill our sensory tub full of water. After placing our sunscreen and hats on we all raced outside. Olivia, Matthew, Isla and Valencia enjoyed using the washers to clean the animals. Bella was transferring the water from the tub to a bucket using a scoop. Daris was doing the same however he was wringing out the water of the washer into the bucket. Dorijan enjoyed using the scoops, Sieve cups and funnels, watching as the water trickled back into the tub.
Playing with water helps develop your child’s fine and gross motor skills. Splashing about in water and pouring, has a huge impact on your child’s hand-eye coordination.
After the activity we enjoyed some free time exploring the yard. Daris, Valencia, Bella and Isla spent time digging in the sandpit. Bella decided to take a book over and swirl her feet around the sand as she was looking at all the pictures. The chalk board was very popular. Parker, Isla, Matthew, Olivia, Dorijan all took turns showing how creative they are. Mel asked Parker and Bella to draw a circle, around and around they went, very clever girls!
For group time today we all sat at the table and Mel sung some of our favourite nursery rhymes as Miss Otavia was setting up the activity. We sung “if your happy and you know it”, “Open shut them” and Wheels on the bus”. Mel then read two books to her friends. “Colours” and “Hide and seek tiger” We loved calling out the colours we could see. Olivia, Bella and Parker named all the colours. Daris, Isla, Matthew and Dorijan loved trying to find the animals in the hide and seek sensory book, we all yelled “yay” every time we found the animal and took turns pulling the levers trying to find them.
It was time to wash our hands for lunch and rest time. We sat on the mat with Miss Otavia to sing our transition song “bumble bee” s to take turns meeting Miss Mel in the bathroom where she was waiting to assist us washing our hands. We then walked over and sat at the table for our yummy lunch, today we enjoyed crispy potato rosti and chicken pom poms.
After we finished our lunch some of us enjoyed our bottles on the pillows before laying on our mattress, drifting off to sleep to some soft relaxing music.
Our afternoon play was child led with outdoor experiences.
