Hello families, welcome to Wednesday in Babies 3,
Today we welcomed Winston, Parker, Olivia, Isla, Valencia an Matthew with warm cuddles as they settled into their learning environment.
Our morning began in Babies 2 as we waited for our friends to arrive. Winston was enjoying looking through books and he squeezed into the book shelve, laying on his tummy, Mel asked Winston if he was going to sleep, he began to pretend he was snoring. Parker was exploring the room while pulling the puppy toy on wheels behind her. Parker was so excited when her friend Isla arrived, giving her friend lots of cuddles and tickles on arrival. Valencia arrived and we headed over to our room.
Isla, Valencia, Parker, and Winston rushed over investigate the fine motor toys on the table. Valencia and Isla took turns using their fine motor skills to place the rings onto the ring stacker. Parker was busy building a tower with the wooden blocks and Winston, using his imagination picked up the digger and used it to pick up one of the blocks. Isla began knocking down her friends towers with a very cheeky laugh as the blocks tumbled down.
It was time to clean up all our toys to the “clean up song”, wash our hands and sit down at the table for our morning tea. This morning we enjoyed triple berry coconut jelly.
This week, we are proudly celebrating Early Learning Matters Week, and reflecting on the importance of early education across our community.
The nationwide initiative, led by Early Childhood Australia, aims to raise public awareness of the early childhood education industry, and the vital role high quality early education plays in supporting children in their first five years of life.
Today we are focusing on Positioning. For this activity we placed three baskets with three different types of blocks in front of our babies and a pile of blocks in front of them. One at a time Olivia, Parker, Winston, Matthew, Valencia, and Isla took turns picking up the blocks and seeing if they were able to place each block into their corresponding baskets.
.Miss Otavia and Miss Mel engaged with the children, asking them which basket each block belonged to. Valencia, Olivia, and Parker knew straight away which basket to place the blocks they were holding, as did Winston. Matthew was a little unsure however he got a few correct before losing concentration and interest, he threw a few in what ever basket was closest to him. Isla sat back but with some encouragement she crawled over, looking at each basket and placing her block into the correct one. Our babies were so proud of themselves, giving their educators hi fives and to one another. Good job babies, we are so proud of you.
After our activity we enjoyed free play with Babies’ 2. Winston was pushing little Indie around in the pram, later he thought it was funny to sit in the basket where we keep all our books, giggling away when he got stuck. His friend Indy soon copied Winston and they were giggling together. Olivia was sitting in book corner looking through books. Valencia and Parker were practicing their climbing skills over on the wooden arch. Matthew was zooming around on the bike. He then joined his friend Isla taking turns going down the slide headfirst.
It was time for group time. Today we decided to have group time outside in the fresh air with Babies 2. Miss Mel sat on the mat with all our friends, and we began singing some of our favourite nursery rhymes. We sang “Open, shut them” “Wheels on the bus”, “Twinkle, twinkle” and “Head, shoulders, knees and toes” We were all very enthusiastic doing all the actions and cheering at the end of each nursery rhyme. Parker then asked for “Sleeping bunnies” Olivia, Winston, Matthew, Parker, Valencia, and Isla happily demonstrated all the actions for our little friends in Babies 2. Our favourite part is hopping around like bunnies!! It was then time to head inside, wash our hands and sit down at the table for our yummy lunch. Today we enjoyed Thai veggie balls with sesame noodle salad.
After we finished our lunch some of us enjoyed our bottles before drifting off to sleep on our mattress to some soft relaxing music.
Our afternoon play was child led in our outdoor environment.
Thank you for a fun filled Wednesday babies, we will see you all again very soon.
