Hello Riversdale families,

Welcome to a new week in the Kindergarten classroom 🙂

Today was an inside day as it rained and poured all day. But we definitely made the most of it!

Kindergarten 1 and 2 class combined today and got to enjoy each other’s company 🙂

To start off our day we all joined on the mat for a morning group time. Kindergarten 1 & 2 welcomed one another and our educators as an inclusive start to our Monday. We also completed the daily calendar and spoke about the date and any special occasions happening. Today we discussed the significance of Harmony Day and that we will be celebrating it at Kindy today! We spoke about what it’s all about and how we are each different in our own special ways 🙂 We then read a story called ‘Children like us around the world’, which helped us see all the different children, their lifestyles, cultures and traditions around our world.

It was then time for us all to refresh our bodies with some morning tea and have a big drink of water. Kindergarten classes then began their classroom activities for the day. Today, we engaged in many activities that the classroom had to offer. We especially loved using our imaginations in home-corner and building houses/forts with the cardboard boxes.

In celebration of Harmony Day, Kindergarten classes enjoyed some play-dough making fun. We had orange play-dough and tools. Some of us created people, love hearts, the world and other symbolic things that came to mind when we think about Harmony Day.

We also engaged in a little arts and craft activity the reflected this special day. The children traced their hands, colored it in and placed it onto our orange poster that we had painted. We were so happy with the way it turned out and could see each of our handprints forming the shape of a heart, representing each of us, our mark and significance to this cohort and coming together as one.

After packing away our activities, we all engaged in our weekly Yoga lesson with Miss Hailey. We all loved today’s class and listened to instructions well, thank you Miss Hailey for today!

Following on from that, Kindergarten participated in a quick sports and movement session. We played a game in our treehouse that required our physical skills and color recognition. We each had to find our colored hoops based on the animal that represented each hoop. It was lots of fun being active as well as using our imaginations to act as our animal and try and find our way to the correct colored hoop first.

It was then time for us to prepare for a quiet rest time and fill our bellies up with lunch.

Although today was difficult due to the weather conditions and room change for the day, Kindergarten classes had an awesome day and we really enjoyed spending it together happily 🙂

We hope you all have had a good start to your week and we will see you all soon!

Kind regards,

Miss Tatyana, Miss Connie, Miss Saori and Miss Domonique
