Happy New Year Riversdale families! And welcome to our very first day in the Kindergarten 1 room for 2021..How exciting!
I hope we have all come back, eager and ready for what this new year has to offer, especially being our last year of Kindy! Kindergarten educators are very proud and excited to be apart of your child’s journey and help prepare them all for big school next year 🙂
As we were all settling in, we got to explore our outdoor yard to start our day off. We seen some of our old friends and educators and welcomed one another in their new rooms. Playing outside was a good time this morning as we all became familiar with how our mornings go.
Afterwards, we all made the transition inside our new classroom for a morning group time. We joined on the mat for an inclusive introduction of each other, our educators and the classroom environment. We discussed what is expected and how we do things in the Kindergarten room and talked about our routines and what we were going to do today. This really helps the children get comfortable with things and help recognize and get into routine.
We then sorted our daily chart so that the children can understand the day and be more connected to their environment and world. It is also good for memorizing and learning their numbers, months of the year, seasons and weather. We did a great job at raising our hands and having a go, well done friends 🙂
After that we got to enjoy some inside free-play of our choice. We are lucky to have so much options, resources and different corners of the classroom; each in which allows us to explore and express our inner selves. We very much enjoyed some puzzles, drawing and stamping, fine-motor and coordination table activities as well as practicing our self-help skills and showing our initiative with some cleaning jobs!
Following that, we packed away all of our activities and sat on the mat for an afternoon group time with Mr Andrew. We joined for some songs and read an educational story ‘Dog in Cat out’. We even got a quick play outside before the rain hit, with some balancing and catching games.
It was then time for us to come back inside for some lunch and have a quiet rest. Thank you Kindergarten friends for a Marvellous Monday and awesome start to the new year as a cohort! We are looking forward to what 2021 year has to offer for Kindergarten 1! See you all soon 🙂
