Jingeri and welcome to the Kindy 1 blog today!
We began our day by enjoying some outdoor play in both the Kindy 2 playground and Senior playground. We have been challenging ourselves on the Monkey bars over recent weeks and many have moved from not being able to move between bars to now completing the whole monkey bars set. We will keep practicing this activity as it is so good for gross motor skill development, upper body strength and also a sense of pride and accomplishment when they achieve their goals.
As we came indoors for our morning group time we quizzed the children with our daily calendar to see if they remembered the change in month and season. We also did some more practice telling the time by using our big red clock, this activity is great for number recognition and also gives the children a sense of independence and security when they can recognise the time themselves and understand what happens at those times (e.g. 12:00 lunch, 2:00 music time etc.).
While some children went off to their Little Big Sport Soccer lesson the others stayed in the classroom and completed dot paintings to display on our classroom wall with our acknowledgment of country. Others began making their vehicles from our recyclable materials box with many different choices including cars, motorbikes, trucks, boats and rockets.
Before lunch we headed outdoors again to practice more on the monkey bars or test out our soccer skills with different games. For the children who don’t do the soccer sessions with coach Zoe this was a special treat.
Later in the afternoon we plan to continue our carboard and plastic vehicles (if families have any resources they would like to donate for these that would be very much appreciated). We will also have a group music time to test out our singing voices and dancing skills. Music is such a great way to increase confidence and build social skills with others.
Thanks for joining us today, have a wonderful evening!
