Today Hamilton asked the other children in the playground to help him create a campfire on the verandah. This activity required the collection of small sticks that they stacked in a small pile. Hamilton then suggested that they all get books and read stories around the campfire. This led to a discussion about creating our pretend fire in the classroom, we created the fire using rocks and cellophane to make flames.
Hamilton asked if we could read stories around the fire, Layla, Wynter and Emily quickly grab some books and cushions and started to look at books. The children then asked what they should do around the fire, Wynter suggested some marshmallows. The hunt was on for sticks to use for our marshmallows, we found some in the garden. Moving inside we used cotton wool balls to create the marshmallows. Layla then said she was hungry for real food; the question was asked what we would cook when camping. Hamilton said they needed to go fishing; the children quickly raced to the art table to draw fish that they could cook for lunch. We stuck the fish to the stick and then started cooking on the fire. Wynter and Layla then helped to create our version of a tent to give us somewhere to sleep, with Wynter explain that we needed to get some pillows for sleeping. The children continued in this play for most of the day creating meals and reading books in the tent.
We have also been visited by Miss Jeni who helped us to explore the amazing world of Dance. The children were able to use their bodies to move to music. Kindergarten love their music and love to move around so Dancing on Friday is a highlight of the week.

We wish our families an enjoyable and safe weekend.

Regards

Miss Sharon and the Munchkins.
