Happy Thursday everyone and what a sunny one it has been! We are trying to make the most of the sunny weather before it becomes too hot in the middle of the day. The children have been smart about drinking lots of water, applying sunscreen and finding shady spots to play.
This morning we sat together at group time and did our calendar, some different songs and also a story about using our kind words. The children always have such great ideas about how to be kind and and now it is about putting them into practice everyday.
Our art and craft focus today was about choosing our favourite animal to draw and then paint. It gave everyone a chance to really observe all the different features of the animals and practice their fine motor skills when they had to draw and then paint them.
Other activities that the children enjoyed included:
- Construction activities with blocks
- Role play games with dress ups and the home corner
- Animal activities like making zoos
- Tidying the artwork and shelves and putting everything in the right place
Mr Dan came for Arakan today and had a couple of smaller groups which has helped let all the children have a turn and practice their movement and reactions skills.
In the afternoon we headed outdoors early to play some group games in the tree hut, do a nature hunt and get in the sandpit and creek for some water play. Narla and Miss Jess even found a lizard which entertained the children for a while. It is great to see the positive connection with nature and how careful they were with the lizard.
The children have been asking to practice their sign language everyday in the Kindergarten class so be sure to test them at home with things like colours, animals and feelings.
Thanks for reading the blog today. See everyone again soon.
