Jingeri!

I hope everyone had as lovely of a day as we did in the Kindergarten Two room!

Following one from Tuesdays Sea animal discussion, Miss Shannan took the children on a virtual expedition to explore submarines, coral reefs and the animals who call the ocean home. The children enjoyed this experience, recounting information that they already knew regarding the animals explored and were fascinated to learn that the coral is an animal and not a plant. Hendrix – The coral looks like plants in the garden. After we finished the exploration, the children communicated the animals they liked the best and why. Ryan -The octopus, he had lots of tentacles! Owen – I liked the seahorses. Harper – I liked the starfish. Ivy – the coral was so many colours. Riley – The dolphin was jumping out of the water. Bonnie – Lots of colourful little fish.

Following on from this we transitioned to the bathroom to wash our hands for morning tea. We completed the colour ICT game again today. The children took turns selecting the colour that Miss Shannan would read out. This activity is requested almost every day by the children, and they eagerly jump up for their turn. The children are becoming very clever in this activity, often pointing to the right one and quickly moving their finger to the one they know is incorrect and showing a gleaming smile at Miss Shannan and their peers, before quickly moving back to the correct one, “Just tricking!”.

After morning tea, the children participated in an under the sea themed playdough experience. Using green and blue playdough, the children manipulated and modelled the playdough into the various sea creatures that discovered in the morning exploration. Ryan made a dolphin, Hendrix a whale, Riley and Christopher made sharks and Harper, Taran and Ella made starfish.

The children expressed their imagination using the mini star connectors today. Many different things were made; headphones, helicopters, houses, stars, spaceships, people and letters of names. It was exciting to see what would be made next.

When the morning became a little warmer, we decided to race out to the big yard for a play. Bonnie and Macy enjoyed jumping together on the balancing beam, “It’s like a seesaw”. Hendrix and Ryan raced around together on the bike tracks. Ella and Owen enjoyed a game of monster in the tunnel “Shh, he’s coming!”. Taran was busy filling her basket with goodies. Riley and Christopher were making a campfire. Ivy and Harper were busy being pushed on the swings.

We then came back to our yard, just in time for ARAKAN with Mr Dan. The children worked on their open fist punch’s, their agility skills and their jumping and hopping skills.

Thank you for a lovely Thursday, see you tomorrow!

Miss Shannan 😊
