Welcome to Tuesday’s Blog
The sun came out to warm our bodies while playing out in the yard with our friends. Pre Kindergarten enjoyed some ball games such as tennis, claw and catch and kicking a ball to our friends and teachers. When we came inside we sat together on the mat singing along to our new focus song which we are starting to learn the words to. The song is called ‘Colours of Australia’. The children were discussing the different colours of their skin, hair and eyes. We noticed that we are all different but we all have amazing hearts and are going to always welcome each other. Asher and Zander were telling everyone how they “have the same skin because we are twins”. To extend on our learning of picking up rubbish, today we started a conversation about “Where does the rubbish go after we put it in the rubbish bin?”. Marlie said “Into the garbage truck” and also told us about how her and her brother reused recycled items at home for craft. Kaylee said “It goes to the dump” and Zander said “They put it to the side”. Miss TJ was very impressed by the children’s knowledge! We spoke about the landfills and how we can minimize the amount of rubbish building up and being dumped on Earth by recycling and reusing certain items.
Today we focused on our pencil control again doing another tracing activity sheet. Miss Livia helped guide the children to control their pens and encouraged them to hold the pen using the correct pencil grip. We noticed the children were starting to give up but with a bit of encouragement and perseverance they did it and were super proud of their achievements. The class check on their beans and alfalfa’s and are getting so excited by the changes over the past week. We will be sending them home this week to be planted in some soil, we would then love to see photos of their growth over time. Pre Kindy loved playing with the sensory stress balls over by the mindfulness station, role playing in the home corner, choosing table activities to explore with at the tables and colour sorting into egg cartons that William brought in for us to reuse at kindy.
Before lunch we made our way outside again to enjoy the fresh air. We played a yoga dice game where we rolled the ball and whatever yoga pose it landed on, we tried to do the pose. It was lots of fun and the children were awesome at sharing and showing off their yoga skills.
Have a lovely afternoon,
Miss TJ and Miss Livia x
