Welcome to Senior Kindy and Pre Kindy’s blog. To start our Friday off, the children enjoyed a lovely morning play outside digging in the sand pit, riding around on the bikes and welcoming our friends to kindy. Senior Kindy and Pre Kindy children were invited to come inside to our new classroom (which is the classroom straight ahead if you were coming through the front doors of the bottom building). Together we sat on the mat to listen to Mr Andrew and Miss TJ talk about Anzac Day, which is tomorrow. We had a group discussion on what is Anzac Day. The children then watched a short clip on Anzac Day and how everyone can remember and pay their respects.

Anzac Day is a national day of remembrance in Australia and New Zealand that broadly commemorates all Australians and New Zealanders “who served and died in all wars, conflicts, and peacekeeping operations” and “the contribution and suffering of all those who have served”-

Over the past few days the children have created poppy flowers for the Anzac’s. Today we put blue tac on the back of our poppy flowers and lined up to place a flower on the front desk. The group then made their way over to the computer which was play ‘The Last Post’ while we stood nice and tall, not talking. The children did such an amazing job at listening to the instructions and being respectful. This was our ceremony to remember those who served.

It was then time for the children to explore their new play environment in their new room. They ran straight over to the home corner area, searching and playing with the shop station and having turns at rocking on the rocking chair. A few friends chose to play with the building blocks and doing free drawing on the table. The children also asked if we could make some more poppy flowers, so we grabbed at the red and black paint and use a picture of the poppy flower as inspiration.

Before lunch we had a lovely surprise from Miss Bea who came to do some dancing and gymnastics with us. The children were bopping around to her fun music while we played a game of musical statues, completed the tasks at each station where they practiced forward rolls, balancing along the bridge, jumping through the ladder and jumping on the trampoline. The children were so excited to receive a sticker at the end of the class.

We are so proud of Conell who had an amazing first day in the Senior Kindy classroom 😊 Have a great weekend everyone
