Hello families!

What a weekend it was! On the weekend our friends Goku and Dominic celebrated their 3rd birthday with their friends and families. Today, we have our friend Lincoln’s birthday. Happy Birthday boys!! Not long until our whole class is 3 years old! To our mothers, we hope you had an amazing Mother’s Day, you deserve it.

This morning we welcomed Poppy, Nayla, Banjo, Kezia, Zilo, Aria, Archie, Goku, Lincoln, Dominic, Henry, Hudson and Luca into the room. The children started their morning in the yard, making birthday cupcakes in home corner, swinging on the swing, climbing on the obstacle course, building towers with the building blocks, and engaging in water play in the creek.

This week, our theme is “Space week”. Miss Nads was kind enough to buy us our very own rocket, which you would of seen set up this morning in it’s galaxy. Wow, what a hit this was! Thank you Miss Nads, we love it! To extend on this, we read “peep into space” before transitioning to morning tea.

After morning tea, the children got themselves ready for a special host who came to visit Riversdale. Today our students visited our lovely friend Miss Chrissie who came to perform a show called “The Rainbow Serpent”. This dreamtime story is a common deity often seen as a creator god, known by numerous names in different Australian Aboriginal languages. During this specific time our children had the opportunity to participate in a series of dances, dream-time songs and a few of our boys had the chance to use a didgeridoo. This was such an awesome experience for our children to have the chance to discover and learn about the country they live in and the native stories behind it.

Just before our lunch arrived, our children placed on their hats, sunscreen and shoes to participate in their usual Monday Yoga class. Providing these experiences for our children at Riversdale such as Yoga, allows our students to not only enjoy themselves amongst their peers but can further extend on their social skills and physical development. As we completed our lunch time and rest-pause period we sat down to wish our Lincoln a Happy Birthday alongside with Goku and Dominic who turned 3 yesterday. We spent our afternoon with delicious birthday cake and cookies from the families of our birthday boys.

Overall, we hope you all have had a beautiful Monday and we look forward to seeing you next time. Thank you 😉
