Happy Monday and happy book week!

This morning we welcomed our friends who spent their morning in the yard playing, engaging with one another and playing in the sandpit. The children enjoyed showing each other their costumes and running around, role playing their character. Once all of our friends had arrived, we headed indoors where we sat for a group time. For group time today, we spoke about all the children’s costumes and who they were dressed up as. We then read “we are going on a bear hunt”, having the children guess what the people would be travelling through next. We then transitioned to the tables where we sat down for morning tea.

After morning tea, we sat down and read “I am Elsa”. The children have shown great interest in Frozen, so we thought we would start our Book week with a Frozen theme. For today’s activities, the children made their own snowman (Olaf). We used ingredients including marshmallows, carrots and smarties. The children threaded the ingredients onto a stick, making their interpretation of a snowman. They absolutely loved this activity, mainly because they could eat it ;).  On another table, we had a “dear zoo” book set up. This included animals and a wooden house, where the children could role play, pretend and move around the different animals and people.

Today we had a special visitor, “Alice in Wonderland”. Alice read us stories including “Alice in wonderland” while singing a variety of songs keeping the children engaged and happy. They also got to work together to fly a parachute which they loved!

What a wonderful start to our week!

We cannot wait to see what you come dressed up as tomorrow 😉
