Hello Senior Kindy and happy Thursday!!
This morning we welcomed our friends Henry, Dominic, Archie, Lachlan, Rumi, Luca, Ella, Grace, Hunter, Parker, Hudson, Nayla, Finley, Zahra and Banjo. The children spent their morning in the yard with their peers enaging in a range of different activities. We also had the doors open into the Senior Kindy room, where a lot of children decided to sit on the mat and complete some puzzles and make a train track.
After morning tea, some of us wanted to go outdoors and do Arakan and some decided to stay indoors and sit on the mat for a story. Both groups had great listening ears! We read a story called “Look at me, Look at me”, a story about a chameleon wanting to change colours, but finding out that when he did, his prey could spot him and run away. We then transitioned to the tables where we waited for our activity. As some of you know, we are currently working on our writing and tracing skills. We figured a great way to start is to use markers to trace the lines before learning to write letters. Our activity today, was helping children to develop and strengthen those fine motor skills in the children’s fingers. We used tweezer tongs to pick up pasta and transfer each piece to a new plate. The idea was for the children to use their fingers rather than their palm of their hand, which is where the strengthening comes into play. The children did pretty well at this activity, which we will continue to do in a variety different ways until they are experts! Zahra, Finley and Luca absolutely loved the tracing worksheets, following along the dotted lines. It was interesting to see each child’s ability. The children then requested for a dance party, where we listened to “Pete the cat”, “gummy bear” and songs from “Frozen”. The children enjoyed acting and dancing around the room, pretending to be pirates and Elsa. We spent the rest of the morning having free play indoors and outdoors.
We are still having technical difficulties with the photos, however the blog along with photos will be printed and on the parent hub for you to look through.
Just a few messages for today:
- Can we please be emptying children’s bag each day, as sometimes there are wet clothes, dirty clothes or some artwork. We are finding some bags are completely full and start to smell if wet clothes are left in there.
- Senior Kindy children are at the age where they are doing self help in a lot of areas, including looking after their own belongings. Can we please take home your child’s belongings each day as well. Some children currently have multiple pairs of shoes at the centre, along with multiple jumpers, socks and drink bottles. Feel free to ask one of the educators if there is anything of your child’s still at Kindy as well. Lets work together!
- Can you please label all of your child’s belongings. Some children have the same bags, drink bottles etc. and it is becoming hard to identify who’s is who.
Thank you so much,
Miss Bec, Miss Aaliyah and Miss Tayla xx
