Happy Monday friends and families!
We hope you all had a lovely weekend. Today we joined with the Senior Kindy and the Kindergarten room. It was also our friend Mia’s last day here at kindy as her family is moving all the way to Texas, United States. We are going to miss Mia so much!
This morning we had a lovely play outside before making a way into the class to begin our learning. Miss Emma invited the children onto the mat to sing the good morning songs. The Kindergarten children helped to teach the Senior kindy children the words and actions to the songs. Our friend Jacob shared his adventures with ‘Hungry Jack’s’ over the weekend. Jacob said that they went to the circus and rode on a motorbike together. It was then time for any of the other children to come up and share any stories or show and share. Mia put her hand up and shared with us that she was going to be going on a plane to Texas to see her Dad. Emily brought in her rocket ship to show us. It makes lots of sounds and she said people can go inside. We then transitioned off to activity time!
The children ran straight over to the craft shelf grabbing scissors, crayons, pencils and paper and began using their creative skills to do free drawing. Wynter was feeling said about children drawing on her picture. She said “We need to talk about no drawing on people picture because it makes them sad”. Great communication skills Wynter! Her friends were very wary of Wynters feelings and made sure they were only drawing on their own piece of paper and unless working as a team. Children’s voice at drawing table:
Emily- I’m drawing Layla and me because we are best friends
Layla- I’m going to cut this out to put on my fridge. It’s just me.
Miss TJ made some soft slimy play dough for the other activity table. The children loved getting their hands a bit messy feeling the stretchy dough between their fingers. We added small match sticks and rocks to play with in the dough. Children’s voice during play dough play:
Ellie- So sticky and burgly and slimy
Elliott- Look a ball!
Harper- I’m going to make pancakes
Jacob- I made a birthday cake
Wynter- Ahh it looks like slime balls. Stretchy slime. It’s sticking on me.
Emily, Layla, Jacob, Elliott and Miss Steph were role playing a game of Schools on the mat. Layla was the teacher and even sent Miss Steph to the principles office for not listening.
Mia, Kaylee and Ellie loved kindergartens home corner area with the pizza shop. The girls dressed up and communicated well together to tell the story. The group will Miss playing with Mia so much! Children’s voice during home corner play:
Mia- Look PJ I made a pizza.
Kaylee- Ding dong ding dong.
Ellie- Someones here. Your next door neighbour
Harper and Elliott also practiced writing their name, cutting out the letters and placing them in order. They did a great job at staying persistent in cutting as it can be quit a tiring job. Elliott said “My fingers are starting to get tired”. He pushed through with Harper and they both completed all of their cutting. Well done!
Before lunch we had our Yoga lesson of the week which is now changed to Mondays. Gabby taught us about animals, specifically the Dugong. We practiced a few new poses and learnt some facts about the Dugong. We then danced and posed to a few animals that we pickled on the caterpillar.
Hope you have a great afternoon
Miss Emma and Miss TJ
