Happy November!
What a fabulous night it was at the Halloween party last night. Thank you to all that came!
The children arrived at kindy very excited to tell everyone all about their Halloween and share stories of the activities that they played with such as the reptile show and the face painting. The children were all very keen to get outside this morning after a bit of rain. As we got outside and up to the outside classroom the rain joined us again, absolutely pouring down. The children all screamed with excitement and danced around under the roof. Once the rain had stopped for a little bit, we ran back inside to start the day.
Our friend Milly brought in a Halloween story called ‘Pumpkins, pumpkins everywhere’ which was about the different emotions of a pumpkin face. The children were showing me their happy, sad, mad and cheeky faces. Just like the pumpkins in the story. Thank you for sharing your book Milly. To transition off to activity time we played a game called “Currant Buns in the Baker Shop’. The children had to practice their counting and were paired up with friends they might not usually play with. They loved it!
During activity time Miss Donna set up a big branch that she found out on her walk to the school this morning and placed it outside with paint colours and leaves. To extend on the reptile show from last night we decided to turn the branch into a snake. The children worked as a team to paint the branch and then use scissors to cut leaves up into little bits and stick them onto the branch to give the snake some scales. The children also enjoyed exploring around the room cooking in the home corner kitchen, creating with the play dough, playing a matching game with discs onto wooden sticks, role playing families in the doll house and dressing up in the costumes.
Dancing with Miss Jenni was lots of fun today! The children are getting more and more confident each time to stand up in front of the class and do solo dancing. We play a game of pumpkin pumpkin witch which was similar to duck duck goose except you had to either do step kicks, skipping or star jump to catch the person.
Before lunch we read ‘When I’m feeling HAPPY’. As a group we discussed what makes us feel happy. The children all agreed playing at kindy with our friends make us feel happy and eating yummy foods! During the book Ellie and Zahra gave each other a big happy hug. The children around them decided to give their friend next to them a great huge hug too. There were lots of smiles around!
We hope you all have a lovely weekend
