Good afternoon Senior Kindy,

This morning we welcomed Alia, Luca, Archie, Isabelle, Parker, Hudson, Zahra, Nayla, Lincoln, Nikora, Tua, Henry, Dominic and Toby into the room. We started our morning outdoors, exploring and adventuring. The rain then started, so we all ran up to the treehouse for a dance party while we waited for the rain to stop.  I think it’s safe to say that the children have better dance moves than Miss Bec. Morning tea then timed itself well, and came right when we were saying we were hungry!

After morning tea, we sat on the mat where we sang some nursery rhymes. Parker then picked our book of the day called “Alpacas with Maracas”. We then watched a couple of videos on the computer. We listened and watched “I can sing a rainbow” helping the children learn the colours of the rainbow  visually and hearing it. We then had a dance to “count to 20 and move your body”. The children did different dance moves each time they counted to 20. Miss Bec then explained to Senior Kindy that we would be making snow today, so we watched a YouTube video on how to make snow, showing the children what was required. Zahra remembered from the video what we needed to make snow, which was baking soda, conditioner or shaving cream.

The children have been showing a great interest in the movie Frozen so we extended on this activity by making our snow, where the children could make Olaf the snowman. We then headed to the tables where we started our activity. Miss Bec poured in the baking soda and the conditioner into tray. The children then took turns at mixing it. The children got their own little bit of snow, where we then added our shaving cream. By this stage, it turned into messy play so we rolled with it! We put shaving cream all over the table and extended on our activity by involving letters and shapes. Miss Bec asked the children to draw a circle, a triangle and a square, which we all did really well! We then wrote letters in the shaving cream, asking the children to recognise and name them. We also did really well at this.

When finished with this activity we moved onto the next, where Miss Bec made a paper ramp using shoe boxes. The children dipped their cars into the paint, making the wheels green, then pushed the cars down the hill. This made a track, and it was fun to see where the cars would end up and what direction they would go. The boys particularly liked this activity!

A few notes:

  • We have a lost and found box at our front door. Please have a look and take any belongings that are yours.
  • Reminder about our family tree, please bring in your favourite family photo.
  • Please label your child’s belongings.

Lots of love,
Miss Bec, Miss Aaliyah and Mis
