Hello families and friends…
We hope you all had a wonderful long weekend and enjoyed some well earned rest…
This week in the Senior kindy room we are recognising National Space Week – Celebrating Satellite Technology! Today we decided to start with learning about the moon and the stars as we shared a story entitled ‘Do you Speak English Moon?’. We also shared a big book entitled ‘Journey into Space’ as the children helped identify the planets, a telescope, an astronaut, a satellite and a rocket.
To further extend on this theme the children created their own ‘night sky’ full of ‘twinkling stars’ as they used the star shaped cookie cutters to stamp glittery stars all over their page. The children also created star shapes using the colourful magnetic tiles. Group time we sang ‘The Rocket Song’ as we counted backwards from 5 to ‘blast off’ as we all pretended to be astronauts and fly to the moon. The children really enjoy using their imagination to play make-believe and take walks on the moon.
Well.. What a super fun day of learning and play in the Senior Kindy room today! We look forward to more space themed adventures tomorrow…
Until next time…
Love Miss Leesa, Miss Tatyana and Miss Lyn
