Hello families and friends…

Today in the Senior Kindy room the children were very excited to learn how to ‘write and post a letter’ as we continued on with engaging in ‘real-life experiences’. During Yarn Time the children engaged in conversation as we all discussed who we would like to send a letter or drawing to in the mail. Ryan decided he would send special letters to the ‘rhinos and elephants in the jungle’ while Connor suggested he would send a letter to his ‘mum and dad’. Miss Leesa demonstrated how to fold the letter or drawing and then place it in the envelope to post in the red mailbox that we borrowed from the Kindergarten room. The children had so much fun drawing, folding and then sealing the envelope to post. Connor then announced that the postman will pick up our letters from the mail box and take them to the mums and dads. All the children took turns writing letters and helping each other to fold and place them in the envelopes. Great team work friends…

The Senior Kindy children were also given the opportunity to wash the baby dolls today as they utilised the wet washers and baby wipes to carefully clean their babies, dry them with the towels and then place nappies and bibs on ready for their bottles. The children have really been enjoying these role-play experiences recently which encourages the children’s use of imagination, their language skills and sharing skills.

Yarn time today we shared one of our new favourite books entitled ‘Baa Baa Blue Sheep’. Miss Leesa borrowed some of Miss Lyn’s coloured wool/yarn for the children to feel and touch as we shared the story about the colourful sheep. The children noticed the yarn was very soft on their hands as we identified all the different items that are made from wool including scarves, jumpers, gloves and beanies.

Other play experiences today included sensory playdough play, drawing on the chalkboards and building with the magnetic tiles.

Until next time…

Love Miss Leesa and Miss Jordan
