Happy Wednesday families and friends…
Today the Senior Kindy children had a wonderful day of learning and play as we all engaged in a variety of fun experiences. Harper, Connor and Millie worked collaboratively together to complete the 6 piece transport puzzles. Connor was keen to work on the digger puzzle as he carefully matched the pieces together and said, ‘I did it’ as he confidently showed off his achievement. Harper then requested Connor’s help to work on the train puzzle. Miss Leesa demonstrated how to first find the corners of the puzzle and then to match the colours of the pieces as the children worked together. Millie then chose the helicopter puzzle and with a little bit of guidance completed the puzzle on her own. The children then swapped puzzles and started all over again.
Yarn time today the children all gathered on the pillows when they spotted Miss Leesa’s felt boards and puppet bag. The children immediately started making request of their favourite songs as they found a spot to sit. Lachlan called out that he wanted to sing the Turtle song and Bjorn requested the frog songs. Miss Leesa collected the 5 Little Specked Frogs felt story as the children helped count the frogs on the log. Christopher and Myla confidently helped count the frogs as one by one they jumped into the pond. The children were then given the opportunity to engage in their own puppet play as they each hand a turn of playing and singing with the frog hand puppets, animal finger puppets and animal felt stories. Christopher and Millie were very keen to create their own stories using the felts on the felt board. Millie created her own song about little green frogs diving into the pond.
Play time today Latika was excited engage in role play with the baby dolls and bottles. Myla, Millie and Harper soon joined in as the children identified roles and placed nappies on the babies, giving them drinks of milk and pretending to be mummies. Millie said, ‘My baby is hungry’ as she gave her baby a bottle. The children have really been enjoying role play experiences recently which has been so great for further developing their social skills, negotiating and turn taking skills and use of imagination. Bjorn and Lachlan spent some fun time engaging in transport play today as they played in pairs to race the cars all around the toy shelf, up the hallway and back onto the car track mat. Lachlan challenged his friend Bjorn to a race as the children giggled and created a race track around the classroom.
Other play experiences today included expressing our creativity with cotton bud painting, sharing books in book corner, grocery shop play and practicing packing our own sheets and beds away after rest time…
Until next time…
Love Miss Leesa and Miss Jordan
