happy wednesday senior kindy families,

we hope you all have had a wonderful wednesday. as always to start our midweek we begin our morning utilising the outdoor yard as we awaited for not only class friends to arrive but for our delicious morning tea. during this time we played with our gigantic digging trucks, had played hide and seek throughout the yard and had our usual weekly wednesday soccer lesson with little big sports. outdoor play provides our children with the chance to explore the natural environment and have adventures. physical activities like these are good for our children’s health, fitness and physical development.

just as morning tea arrived, we created our choo-choo train line to transition and make our way indoors for self-serve morning tea and circle time. throughout circle-time we firstly said our good mornings to all children that arrived for today’s lesson whilst completing the roll. today we welcomed: Hudson, Nayla, Toby, Luca, Nikora, Lachlan, Brayden, Orion, Banjo, Rosie, Lincoln, Rumi, Poppy, Isabelle, Tua, Zahra, Alanis and lately during the morning Everly.

miss aaliyah begun group-time by gathering a collection of blocks that were multiple colours. as a transition from circle time to morning tea, miss aaliyah would ask a student to pull out a specific block and identify the colour. once the child had named the colour, miss aaliyah would ask the student to find an item, picture or toy in the room that had the same colour. once each student identified a colour in the room, we would make our way one by one to wash our hands and sit down for morning tea. not only does this show the practice of colour recognition but it is an efficient way for our children to transition from one experience to another calmly.

soon after, morning tea was complete the children had a wonderful incursion show to attend. today senior kindy was attending the “Good manners show” with the following classes of the senior kindy building. our children had all sat wonderfully throughout the show as the children engaged and interacted nicely with our host Miss Chrissy, whilst learning about the concepts of using good manners and behaviours.

just as the show completed, we made our way back indoors to complete a colour recognition experience. this week our children have been understanding the recognition of different letters, numbers, colours, names and shapes. on monday we learnt about the concept of letters, on tuesday we discovered the recognition of numbers and today we are having an introduction to colour. today, miss aaliyah had asked brought a container filled with colourful mathematical coins, along with four coloured trays. the purpose of this experience is for the children to colour match; to play the correct coloured coin in the correct coloured tray. for eg: all red coins go into the red tray, all blue coins go into the blue tray. this activity has been done so that our children can have the ability to identify colours. identifying colours is considered a marker and milestone in a child’s cognitive process. recognising the colors and identifying the colour names is an important part of a child’s development. with the guidance and help from educators, our children had successfully completed this experience.

as lunch-time has came around and our children are having their daily rest pause period. we will soon awake from our rest times, complete after noon tea and slip on our hats, jumpers and shoes for outdoor afternoon play. overall, we have had such a wonderful filled wednesday and we look forward to seeing you next time.

NOTE: we are currently experiencing difficulties in regards to uploading photos to our blogs, we are looking at resolving this issue as soon as we can.

thank you 🙂

miss aaliyah, miss tayla & miss jade.
