Happy Wednesday Friends!

We had a lovely morning play enjoying the beautiful cool weather after yesterday’s hot day. Lily and Ellie were enjoying each other company riding around the track with the bikes. Lily also joined in with the soccer group today. She had so much fun and was great at following the instructions. If your child would like to do a free trial with the soccer group let us know. Once inside we sat at the tables ready for Morning Tea. Today the children had a go at using the tongs to serve up their own plate of raisin bread and mixed fruit. They were all so excited to use the tongs and I could see that they enjoyed the challenge. This is another self-help skill that I would like to add to our every day practice.

Extending on our tadpole and frog interest, Miss TJ read ‘Growing Frogs’ which is a story about a child who found Frog eggs in a pond, took them home and created a safe environment for them to grow into frogs. The children sat beautiful through the whole book, watching the transformation of the tadpole to frog. At a table we found 5 little speckled frogs sitting on a log and tadpoles swimming in the blue water, which was placed on a felt board. As a group we sang along to ‘5 little speckled frogs’ , counting the amount of frogs on the log as we went along and giving everyone a turn of picking up a frog and placing it into the pool. On the other table we placed black paper and white crayons as a different drawing experience. Using the pictures of the life cycle of a frog on the easel in front of them, we encouraged the children to have a go at drawing tadpoles, frogs, eggs etc.

Our building colourful blocks were very popular today. The children were using their imagination and showing their creativity side. The children also enjoyed role playing in their favourite area of the room, Home corner.

We had a nice little play outside on the obstacle course before making our way to the shaded sand pit where we discovered a moth stuck in the sand. The children screamed with excitement! Ella was saying “awww Baby” as we noticed is might have a broken wing. We placed in a safe spot before heading back inside for our lunch and rest time.

Have a lovely afternoon

Miss TJ
