Welcome to Thursday in Toddler One. We have had a very busy day today. This morning we extended on our farm animal theme  with sensory wet sand play – stomping our animal figurines around in the trough, making footprints. We also all lined up along the verandah to observe the rain and reached out to feel the raindrops on our fingers. The children really enjoyed this experience as they all said the rain was cold. Indoors we all joined in for our ‘Acknowledgment to Country’ and good morning songs. Today we sang ‘5 Currant Buns’ to transition to wash hands to the bathroom for morning tea. The children chose their favourite topping for their currant bun including strawberries, chocolate and cherries.

The Toddler friends were then given the opportunity to engage in a variety of planned and spontaneous experiences. The children made farms with the lego set as we all sang ‘Old McDonald had a Farm’. Some friends enjoyed expressing their creativity with cotton bud painting. We also painted a ‘Kiwi’ to recognise ‘Waitangi Day’. The children noticed that the bird had a very long beak as they painted.  Mr Dan then joined us for indoor martial arts. The Toddlers then gathered on the mat to carefully listen and help identify all the different farm animal sounds as we played animal bingo. We then released some energy as we danced and played with the rainbow ribbons and pretended to be superheroes with the dress-up capes.

WOW! What a super busy day of fun, learning and play in the Toddler room today!

Until next time…

Love Miss Leesa, Miss Lyn and Miss Thais.
