What a wonderful day we all had in the Toddler One Room today! After our morning songs, it was time for a delicious morning tea of fresh fruit and mini muffins. Once the children had put their dirty dishes away, they moved to various activities around the room.

Vaughn spotted the musical instruments and started making some music. Taran discovered Home Corner and, after going shopping, emptied her bags and started cooking a meal for her and the doll. Colton found the cubby house amusing as he played peek-a-boo with his friends as they walked past him. Harper has been captivated by the Mini Band Musical instrument for the last few days, and she was quick to play it again today. It didn’t even make it off the shelf before she started making music. Harry joined Taran in Home Corner, using the market stand to sort out his recent food purchases. While Evie was engaged in role-playing with the baby dolls again. Dressing them, wrapping them up and putting them to sleep was something Evie was focused on during her play. While a few children where watching around the art table, Connor was over on the mat with Steph exploring the magnetic tiles and building with his peers.

As the morning progressed, Miss Jess set up a sensory art experience for the children to engage in. Using a tray, the children poured in cups of water beads that had been soaked in different colour dyes overnight onto the paper. They then tilted, shook or bounced the tray to encourage the water beads to move around, creating different patterns and causing the colours to mix. A few of the children chose to use their hands to move the water beads around, taking time to explore the texture of the water beads and observe them as they bounced back into the tray. Harvey in particular had a great time using his fingers to flick the beads around the tray to create different patterns and was giggling as the water beads slipped out of his hands as he tried to pick them up.

Everyone then tidied up for Yarn Time where the puppets were requested. The children sung and danced along to a few nursery rhymes before transitioning to lunch time, where a yummy bowl of Singapore Noodles and fresh veggies were waiting for them. Yum!

Until next time…

Love Miss Leesa & Miss Jess
