Happy Tuesday families and friends…

What a super fun day of learning and play in the Toddler rooms today. We started  our day in the great outdoors, exploring  the playground, watering the gardens and engaging in physical play on the bikes and the obstacle course. The children have been noticing over the past few weeks that there has been lots of beautiful butterflies fluttering about the playground. The Toddler friends have been trying to follow them about the outdoor environment, attempting to identify all the pretty colours on their wings. The children have also observed many different types of birds landing in the branches of the trees and on the roof of the building. Mostly magpies, but also a kookaburra some days.

Indoors the children were excited to explore the play spaces and choose their favourite experiences.  Transport play was popular as the children identified and negotiated roles as they shared the emergency stations. Some friends enjoyed puzzle play and worked in pairs to complete the transport puzzles. Role play in home corner was great fun and in particular banging the pots and pans together while pretending to cook.  Yarn time we shared some of our favourite stories chosen by the children including ‘Koala’s Big Day Out’, ‘Where’s my Dinner?’ and ‘Where is the Green Sheep?’ This afternoon we are going to share ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’ story to further extend on the children’s interest with observing the butterflies in the playground this morning..

Until next time…
