Hello families, welcome to our day in babies’ 3,

Today we welcomed Winston, Isla, Matthew, Valencia, Parker, Theo, Jhye and Bella with lots of cuddles as they settled for the morning.

Our morning began by exploring our outside environment. Miss Otavia opened up the sandpit and all our friends eagerly jumped in. There was lots of digging and scooping up the sand. Winston took the airplane into the sandpit and Isla was digging the sand out from inside the buckets. Jhye was exploring while pushing the mower around the yard. Parker and Bella decided to place the coloured sensory bottles into the pram and take turns pushing the pram around the yard.  Theo was enjoying rocking back and forth on the seesaw while his friend Valencia was bouncing up an down on the donkey. While outside Bella found a mask and held it up for Miss Otavia to assist her to put it on. Bella continued exploring the yard while climbing the soft blocks while wearing the mask. You looked so adorable Bella. While exploring our outside environment Miss Otavia played some of our favourite nursery rhymes. We enjoyed having a boogie and doing the actions as we played.

We all sat together outside our door to sing our transition song   ‘Bee, bee bumble bee”. As we said or tried our very best to say our names we washed our hands and sat down for morning tea. Today we had blueberry quinoa breakfast bar and fresh fruit.

To support Daffodil Day Miss Mel planned a collage activity using all things yellow including paper, feathers, ribbon, paddle pop sticks, pipe cleaners and more. Daffodil Day is Cancer Council’s annual campaign that raises life-saving funds for world-class cancer research. It occurs in August and people across the country raise funds to give hope and save lives.

We all sat around the table together, excited to see what activity we would be doing. Miss Otavia brought a yellow bowl filled with assorted yellow items for us to glue to our paper. We selected what we wanted to stick to our paper and Miss Otavia helped us with the glue. It was very sticky and stuck to our fingers.

After we finished, we washed our hands and cleaned up, ready to go outside to join Babies 1 and 2 for a fun sensory activity, using foam and yellow food colouring. Winston and Parker loved the experience and the texture of the foam, rubbing it all over, touching their face and squishing it in the hands. Valencia and Bella also loved it however Bella didn’t like having her hands dirty and asked Miss Lara to “wash”. Isla and Theo enjoyed mixing the foam around and around in the tub. Isla began clapping and laughing as the foam sprayed out of her hands. Matthew wasn’t as keen as his friends; he was happy to explore the yard after a short play.

After we were all cleaned up, we sat on the mat outside with Miss Lara for group time. Today Miss Lara read the “colours” book. Using our best listening and concentration skills we listened as Miss Lara continued to read. When it came to the page with the animals Miss Lara was counting them. Bella yelled “five” after Miss Lara said four. We all practiced colour recognition together in doing our best at naming all the colours.

Once the story was finished, we sung our transition song “Be, bee bumble bee” as we took turns go to the bathroom where we met miss Otavia who assisted us in washing our hands. We then all sat at the table together for a nice big drink and for our yummy lunch. Today we enjoyed Salmon and Vegie mac and cheese.

After we finished our lunch some of us enjoyed our bottles on the pillows before laying on our mattress, drifting off to sleep to some soft relaxing music.

Our afternoon play was child led with outdoor experiences.

We hope all our families had a fun filled and restful long weekend. We would also like to thank our families for dressing our babies in yellow and donating for Daffodil Day to support the Cancer Council. xx

See you all very soon,

Miss Melinda and Miss Otavia xxxx
