Hey friends and family,

This morning we welcomed our friends with warm cuddles and lots of smiles as we said good morning to Zelia, Oliver, Grayson, Jordan, Charles, Larsson and Dorijan. This morning we were in our own room as we had a few of our friends arrive early. We had an open room having indoor and outdoor play to encourage our friends to explore their environment and initiate play based on their interests. Inside Grayson, Charles, Larsson, and Oliver were happy playing inside, they found our bell shakers and the mini drums and sat amongst one another as they each played the instruments, shaking and banging and making some wonderful music. Musical instruments encourage our friends to use their fine and gross motor muscles to move, tap, shake, and roll with them, it also introduces them to different sounds and rhythms. Outside Jordan, Dorijan and Zelia were enjoying the fresh air and sunshine. Dorijan went straight to the balls, he has expressed his interest in balls, so having them available has encouraged him to continue exploring this interest, practising his throwing and hand-eye coordination with a range of different size balls to provide a bit of a challenge. Zelia has become such a social butterfly with the other children from the toddlers’ rooms, she was at the fence this morning, standing up and engaging in conversation with the other children. Engaging with all children in the yards, is developing Zelia’s language and communication skills and is allowing her to form strong, nurturing, and positive relationships with all children. Meanwhile, Jordan was playing with the play centre table, moving the beads through the bead track and giggling and clapping at his achievements. Jordan is enhancing his fine motor skills and encouraging problem solving as he works out how to move the beads. After a fun morning of playing and exploring it was time to head begin our morning sleep and bottle routines.

For group time today we sat together on the mat before lunch, we recited our acknowledgement to country, copying Miss Crystal do the movements, we enjoyed copying as we “reached to the sky”. After our acknowledgement to country, we sang some songs to continue from yesterday and extend on our interests in music. We sang along to ‘Baby Shark’, ‘Incy Wincy Spider’, ‘ABC’ and ‘Dingle Dangle Scarecrow’. We loved singing and dancing along sharing lots of smiles, clapping and laughing. To finish off group time we sang ‘Bee Bee Bumble Bee’, we sing this everyday to be consistent with our transitions to meal times and continuing to help our friends recognise and acknowledge their names.

After morning tea, we continued with indoor/outside play to engage in some child led play in the fresh air and beautiful sunny weather! We continued to play with the balls, throwing the plastic balls up into the air and laughing as they came back down. We also played with some bubbles, our friends absolutely love reaching out to them and popping them. We had the wooden climbing equipment set up for our friends as all our friends are all at a stage of movement where they are wanting to climb and explore in and around different areas. The wooden climbing equipment is not only meeting their interests it is building their confidence as they explore the developmental milestones. Whether it be pulling themselves into a standing position and enhancing their balance through strengthening their legs, taking steps, or crawling this learning space is beneficial for encouraging use of fine and gross motor skills and allowing our friends to feel a sense of security as their needs and interests are met. Inside we continued playing with the musical instruments, listening to music and attempting to play in rhythm with the music. We also are enjoying our sensory bags, using our hands to push the sequins and pom poms around the bag.

For our transitions to mealtimes today we sung Bee Bee Bumble Bee to continue with our learning and recognition of not only our own names but our body parts too. Our friends all followed their own individual sleep routines as best as they could! We endeavour to follow each child’s home routine in whatever way we can. As the afternoon sets in, we will enjoy some indoor/outdoor play, having opportunity to play with what we choose before all coming inside when the weather becomes cool.

Lots of Love
Miss Crystal and Miss Shae
