Happy Monday families and friends…
Today in the Kindergarten 2 room we celebrated ‘Australia Day’ early as we engaged in conversation about what we were going to do with our families and friends tomorrow – during our Yarn Time. The children decided it would be fun to have a BBQ to celebrate. This morning we also shared stories about Australian animals including ‘Wombat-went-a-Walking’ and ‘By the Billabong’ and sang songs including ‘Home among the Gumtrees’ and the Indigenous lullaby ‘Inanay’. Lunch time we enjoyed a yummy sausage sizzle sandwich with sauce and salad. The children thought it was a real treat and then enjoyed more fresh bread with tomato sauce…
Play and learning experiences today the children engaged in number and counting games as they selected and identified a number on the timber disc and then chose a variety of natural items including seashells, stones and little timber logs to count out the number chosen. The children were very careful in making sure their counting was accurate to match the number – we will continue on with number games later in the week. The children also engaged in an animal matching card game where they had to try and match the animal to the type of food it likes to eat and to its home.
The children were quite vocal today when voicing what they wanted do – including free drawing on the whiteboards and then using the stencils, sensory playdough play with the kitchen set, scissors, wooden hammers and rollers and building a big long timber track for the cars and trucks.
What a super fun day was had in the Kindergarten 2 room today… Hope you all enjoy your day tomorrow…
Until next time…
