Happy Friday families and friends…
Wow… The first week in Kindergarten Two has gone so fast. The children have all settled in so beautifully to their new environment and have started developing some wonderful connections with peers. Today Millie and Harper requested drawing as an activity as the children were keen to use their paper, pencils and textas they had both brought along to Kindy. The children proudly created pictures with their brand new resources and decided to place them in their bag to take home. Hendrix and Bonnie spent time together engaging in conversation as they worked together to build a farm with the lego set. The children had so much fun role-playing and pretending to be farmers looking after their animals. Millie then requested playdough play and Miss Leesa discovered a super fun kitchen set for the children to use their imagination to make cakes with icing. The children displayed very impressive negotiation and turn taking skills during this small group playdough play experience.
Miss Leesa then collected the fruit and vegetable cans to encourage the children to practice their counting and sorting skills. Millie and Harper helped each other to identify the numbers on the cans and then label the variety of fruits and vegetables into the appropriate cans as they counted. The children identified the number ‘three’ as their ‘number’ or age. The children then practiced recognising the letters from their first name as they pressed their pointer finger on the letter flashcards cards and traced their letters. We will continue to practice identifying our first name and letters next week via a variety of fun experiences.
Other play experiences today included role-play with the farm animals, doll house play, engaging in dress-up play and dance and building and constructing with the magnetic tiles…
Have a lovely weekend….
Until next time…
Love Miss Leesa
