Good Afternoon Families,
This morning the children initiated mud kitchen activities. They explored the yard to gather resources for cooking including bark, leaves, stones, sand and dirt. Once collected the children went to the kitchen area and used the utensils to measure, mix, and pour the ingredients into tubs (etc). During this time the children discussed their favourite foods and ways they share meals with their families.
Whilst outdoors the children engaged in conversations about Valentines Day, as this was prompted by the older kinder children. Many children shared that they spent time with their families eating heart shaped chocolate, pink cake, or some going on picnics and getting to play in the park. These highlights of memories caused many storytelling opportunities amongst the children.
Indoors, the children engaged in finger painting activities, discussions/revision about Chinese New Year and Yoga with Miss Hayley. For self help skill-building the children are practicing making their rest time beds, and self serving meals. We are seeing children develop a high interest in completing these tasks independently and due to this we wish to build their sense of agency and autonomy.
Tomorrow we will be participating in a calendar event referred to as Pancake Day. Additionally, we will be including further activities related to Chinese New Year as this event is celebrated across a fortnight.

We hope you enjoy the photos.
