Happy Monday friends and families

We hope you have all had a wonderful start to the weekend and enjoyed your weekend. Hendrix wanted to share a story from his visit to a family friends farm over the weekend. Hendrix told us all about playing in the rain and mud with his brother and the class were all giggling when he explained how his brother, Bentley even put mud on his head. Arlo was also wanting to show off his brand new haircut, we are super proud of Arlo for facing his fears and getting the cool new style.

Only 6 more sleeps until Halloween and boy do we have some excited little ones in our classroom. To start off the Halloween celebrations this week we decided to focus on the children choice of exploring Witches. This was one of the things they chose to explore when brainstorming what we would like to do for Halloween last week. We revisited ‘Room on the Broom’ story at our group time this morning and a few of the children were curious about the Witch making potions in her cauldron and singing “Iggety, Ziggety, Zaggety, Zoom”

Extending on the story and the Witches magic we set up a bunch of ingredients on a table outside, including coloured water, pom poms, snakes and bugs, glitter, rocks and shells with spoons, eye droppers and bowls as the cauldrons. The children were invited in small groups to experiment and role play making potions out of all of the resources provided. They had so so much fun with this experience as they could do as they wish with the resources and loved experimenting. We even made up our own saying for our potions.

The children enjoyed our hair/make up salon that is set up in a small quiet area. It has been so nice to see the children enjoying this environment more and using their communications skills to share around the equipment. Miss Lyn brought in some playdough for us to mix with bugs, insects and snakes to make it a bit spooky. Inside the group also chose to make pictures and cards fro loved ones and challenge their creativity when building with the blocks. We had a nice run around outside before our Yoga lesson with Miss Hayley, learning some new songs and yoga positions and stretches to go along with it.

Have a great afternoon,

Miss TJ and Miss Lyn
