Hello to all our Pre-Kindy families on a warm and sunny Monday! We have had a lot of fun today with all our friends, starting with waterplay and sea animals early this morning during outside playtime. As it got so warm so quickly, we came indoors just after 9 a.m., where we made sure all the children remained well hydrated and cool.

This morning during group time, Oli very generously shared lots of stickers with his friends – thank you for sharing Oli! During group time, we also had our “Feelings” board on display, where the children were able to choose which face emotion personally suited them best. Most children appeared to be either “happy” or “excited”. This led into a rousing rendition of “If you’re happy and you know it”.

Following on from this we read a book written by Anh Do entitled “What do they do with all the poo from the animals in the zoo”. This resulted in some very funny, and some very serious conversations about animal waste. We discussed how it could be turned into fertiliser or compost to nourish garden beds, or how elephant poo could be recycled to create paper and notebooks. We also watched a small video about Woodlands Zoo, and how they do this. It was a very unique way to teach the children more about environmental sustainability.

After a yummy morning tea consisting of apple slice and various fruits, we had many engaging play-based activities available, some of which included:

  • Our very own hairdressing salon with Velcro rollers, brushes, combs, towels, wigs and curling tongs made from Mobilo. Harvey, Marlie, Zahra, Kaylee, Ivy, Harley, Oli, Arlo and Ellie all got thoroughly involved and gave both Kaylee and Miss Livia fabulous makeovers!
  • Office play was a big success today, as Miss Donna had brought in several new phones. Many conversations took place back and forth between our friends, and “memos” were furiously typed out on the keyboards, or jottings taken down on notepads.
  • The children were fascinated to play with replica Australian currency whilst at their wooden cash registers. Kaylee, Harley and Ivy really enjoyed this activity especially
  • Yoga with Miss Hayley was a big success today. Jamal particularly was taken with the breathing exercises in tandem with the stretchy circle apparatus. The children were all very relaxed as we transitioned onto lunch

Until tomorrow everyone, stay safe and enjoy your evening! Please enjoy the photos of your child’s day. Love Miss Donna and Miss Livia xx
