Good Afternoon Pre-Kindy families

We hope you all enjoyed your weekends and had some fun and memorable moments with your little ones.

Inspirational quote; “It is more important than ever to make our families the center of our lives and the top priority”- L. Tom Perry

This morning we welcomed Harry, Colton, Ariana, Bjorn, Lachlan, Myla, Ivy, Lincoln, Romney and Harrison. We started off our morning inside where we had train tracks being built, puzzles being made and amazing art work taking place.

This morning for group time we started off with our acknowledgement to our land, followed by the days of the week and our weather report. This morning Harry and Bjorn were on fire being able to tell us what today was, what yesterday was and what tomorrow will be! Colton was our weather bird, he reported to us that it is a sunny day with no clouds in the sky!

We then moved onto our focus of the week, this week is Naidoc week in which celebrations are held across Australia each July to celebrate the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. NAIDOC is celebrated not only in Indigenous communities, but by Australians from all walks of life. The week is a great opportunity to participate in a range of activities and to support your local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community.

Today we read a story called “The Rainbow Serpent” which is about a snake called the Rainbow Serpent that travels across the land and as she travels her body formed mountains, valleys and riverbeds, she created grass and wildlife. She ensured all animals obeyed the laws of the land and if they did so they were turned into humans if not they were turned to stone. Our intentional teaching activity was a group effort to paint the Rainbow Serpent, for our wall display. We used all the different colours, with Harrison, Ivy, Ariana, Harry being the first to start painting. Harrison decided that he would use orange to paint the earth whilst the others used all the different colours to make the snake colour.

Lachlan and Bjorn spent their activity time playing in the jungle area with the animals whilst Lincoln and Romney and Myla were in the home corner participating in role play.

After our morning activities we then cleaned up the classroom before heading outside for some free play.

This afternoon will see us eat, rest and then get involved with some fun afternoon games as we wait for the arrival of our parents.

Our meals for the day;

Morning tea; Crackers, Yoghurt, fresh fruit

Lunch; Sausage rolls served with a salad bar

Afternoon tea; Pita crisps, salsa, avocado served with fresh veges

With love, Miss Tiff and Miss Bek
