Happy Friday!!

This morning we welcomed our friends Hudson, Toby, Luca, Parker, Archie, Hunter, Orion, Henry, Lincoln, Aria, Rumi, Poppy Isabelle, Kezia, Zilo and Zahra. Our friends spent their morning up in the slide yard where they enjoyed the see-saw, the two slides and talking to the babies and toddlers through the fence. Once all of our friends had arrived, we headed back to our room where we sat down for a group time at the back door with Miss Alicia. Today, Alicia read us the book “Carlos and Diego”. We loved it! We then sang bee bee bumble bee before transitioning indoors to morning tea.

After morning tea, we sat down with Miss Aaliyah who played “doggy where’s your bone” with us. This game teaches us memory and guessing skills while we guess who has the bone. It also teaches us to work as a team to not ruin and let everyone know who has the bone. We then transitioned to our activities.

To end Science Week, we made our very own Marshmallow slime. With this, we added some Oreos, popcorn and sprinkles as well as different flavoured essences. The children soon realized that it was edible and decided to try a little. This activity aids in the children’s sensory skills as they hold the slime, as well as their creative skills when adding the ingredients. They thought this was amazing! Our second activity of the day was “milk the cow”. For this, we had a string between two poles and had gloves filled with water attached. The idea was to squeeze each “udder” (finger of the glove) into a bucket. We role played pretending this was the cow, and putting the milk in a bucket. The children thought this was great and made mooing sounds as they discovered the concept. The concept of this was for the children to learn the basics of milking a cow and gaining an understanding of their world and how milk is made. What an amazing day to finish our Science week!

The children spent the remainder of their morning outdoors engaging in free play with one another.

Reminder: Next week is book week and we would love to see as many of you as possible dressed up in your favourite characters.

Have an amazing weekend and we will see you next week.
