Happy Friday families and friends…

Today in the Senior Kindy room the children had a wonderful time exploring the outdoor environment during the morning. Romney and Alek enjoyed sensory play mixing the sand, bark and water together in the outdoor kitchen. The children observed the water was ‘a little bit cold’ as they stirred their ingredients together to make cakes. Bjorn engaged in sensory play in the sandpit, enjoying play with the big digger as he filled the recycled cylinder with sand. Millie, Latika and Harper enjoyed each others company as they engaged in role play with the doll house. The children worked together to fill the doll house with furniture to create a kitchen and a little bedroom for the doll house family.

The children then transitioned indoors for morning tea and play. Today the children were excited to engage in more sensory play with the green and red playdough. The children took turns with the wooden rollers and hammers as they flattened their dough like a pancake and then utilised the paddle pop sticks to make birthday cakes. Harper, Latika and Millie engaged in conversation about how they are all having birthdays soon and will be turning ‘three’.  Millie and Alek then made pretend lollipops by rolling the dough into little balls and carefully placing them on the end of a paddle pop stick. The children helped pack away the playdough experience when they had finished playing by helping Miss Leesa sweep the floor and pick up the mess with the dust pan and broom. Thanks little helpers…

The children then gathered on the mat for Yarn Time. Today we shared one of our favourite stories, ‘My Daddy ate an Apple’ as the children sang along to the song. We then enjoyed a game of animal bingo as the children listened carefully to the farm animal sounds on the CD and then identified the animals on their bingo card. The children then engaged in conversation about their pets at home.and about which farm animal is their favourite. Bjorn chose the horse and Romney chose the pig. This conversation then lead into a game of follow-the-leader with Miss Leesa as we all pretended to gallop like a horse, waddle like a duck and crawl and bark like a puppy dog. We continued on with follow-the-leader as the children copied Miss Leesa practicing side steps, walking backwards, jumping, skipping, walking on tip toes and hopping. Millie called out and said. ‘That’s a bit tricky’ as she balanced on one foot to hop.

Other play experiences today included role play in home corner, pretending to ride a bus on the green chairs, construction play with the farm lego set and baby doll play…

Until next time…

Love Miss Leesa
