Hello families,
This morning we welcomed our friends Hudson, Luca, Zahra, Lachlan, Parker, Finley, Dominic, Archie, Grace, Henry, Hunter, Nayla and Goku. Our friends spent their morning running around the yard and watching the tractor mower mow the grass on the block next door. Our friends were so fascinated by this tractor, and enjoyed making the reversing noise of the truck all day! Parker loved telling every educator about how the tractor drove up onto the back of the truck. Our friends then came inside and ate a delicious morning tea.
After morning tea, we sat on the mat with Miss Bec and Miss Aaliyah and watched a live launch of a rocket. The children love saying “5,4,3,2,1 BLAST OFF” and noticing the fire come out the bottom of the rocket as it takes off. We then listened to the planet song, a song that names all the planets and how many of them we have. We then transitioned to the tables where we had our activities waiting for us.
Today, to continue with our Space week theme, we had one table that had astronauts with a silver helmet for the children to colour in, and on the other table we made rocket ships. We started by colouring in the rockets. When the children were finished, they would bring their rocket to Miss Bec who then stuck their rocket onto a paper straw. The children then enjoyed zooming their rockets around the room saying “zoom, blast offffff”. We are finding the children are really interested in the space theme, and are really intrigued when participating in activities and asking lots of questions. Today we spoke about Gravity, teaching the children that on ground, the air keeps us on the ground and in space, the air moves us around like a balloon. We also had some children who just wanted to play with our classroom rocket ship on the ground involving role play while doing so. We then had our weekly Arakan lesson with Mr Daniel, who taught us many defensive moves!
Our friends loved their food so much today! Some of our friends even ate 4 plates for lunch! WOW!
