Hello Senior Kindy families,
This morning we welcomed Lachlan, Henry L, Banjo, Zahra, Grace, Hudson, Luca, Goku, Parker, Dominic, Archie, Henry W, Nayla and we welcomed back our friend Rumi who has been away in New Zealand for the past couple of weeks. The children spent the morning in the yard running over the obstacle course, building towers with the orange and white blocks, running up and down the grass hill and playing in home corner. Before morning tea, our friends sat on the mat and sang “hello how are you” and “bee bee” before transitioning to the tables for morning tea.
After morning tea, we sat on the mat and read two books. First one was “first 100 machines” a book with pictures and the names of 100 machines that a child would show interest in including diggers, police cars, tractors. The second book was one that Hudson brought in called “the South African alphabet”. The children were so intrigued! We then transitioned to the tables where we took turns in an “Earth” activity, to continue with our space theme. The activity involved shaving cream and blue and green paint. The children then mixed together the colours, forming an “Earthy colour” and then used their hands to paint it on paper. This activity brought such texture to the page, lumps, bumps and a variety of colours. It looks awesome! We then cleaned up and headed outdoors where we spent time climbing on the obstacle course. Even Miss Bec was too scared to do it, so Parker, Luca and Dominic held Bec’s hand and helped her by showing her how to do it. After about 10 minutes, the boys were running the course!!
We have been working so hard on our self help skills here in Senior Kindy. Today, the children self-served their own food, putting it on their own plate. The children have also been making their own beds each and every day. It is also so amazing to see so many of our friends using the toilet now!! YAYY!! We are so proud of you
